Spring Into Plumbing Maintenance

Spring has officially sprung and productivity is in the air as people begin to create their spring to-do lists and those lists should include plumbing maintenance! Below are a few simple tips to ensure your plumbing is well maintained this spring.

1. Check Pipes for Leaks

To avoid costly repairs and damage, it’s best to check your pipes for leaks every season. In the spring time, we recommend taking a look at faucets and making sure there is no water escaping from any of the connections. If you do find some leaks, now is the time to install new fixtures to prevent damage and costly water bills. You should also check the exposed pipes inside cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms.

2. Maintain Water Heater

If your water heater is more than 15 years old, it may be time to think about a replacement for one of the newer and more efficient water heaters that are now on the market. Ether way, its a good idea to check a few items off your maintenance list such as adjusting the temperature, cleaning the tank of sediment, and ensuring there is proper insulation. 3. Check Appliances

Another easy and effective plumbing maintenance tip is to simply check the water supply hoses on your appliances for any leaks or disfigurement. If those hoses are more than 10 years old, it may time to replace them. This is an opportunity to opt for a more durable and reliable stainless steal option, which is more resilient to cracks, leaks, and normal wear and tear.

4. Check Outdoor Plumbing

As the weather is warming up, don’t forget to go outside and check on any pipes and drains that are surrounding your home. This is also a good time to free your gutters and downspouts of any debris. Be sure to turn on an off all outdoor faucets to ensure water is flowing without trouble. If you have a sprinkler system, you may want to give that a good testing as well.
